back in saddle

After ripping the guts out of my Ruby installation(s), I now have a working copy of all my softwares again. The latest wrinkle is proprocessing the images before doing the vector art thing on them. In the new batch, I am selecting two random images (instead of one) and combining them with a channel operation (hard light, for you Photoshop nerds), then running the mixed vector thingy on them, as below. This has lowered my “hit rate”, as many of the images just get muddy. But when they work, they work nice, and they don’t have quite the same relationship to the original photo. In this one, the yellows came from one photo, and the blues from another. (detail on right)

crap excuses

There hasn’t been a lot new lately, because I upgraded Ruby on my mac and all hell broke loose. I have had to reinstall all of the supporting graphic libraries by hand. The last bugs seem to be fixed, but just in case there’s more, here’s some of the last images created before things went kerflooey.
